for prospective students

Violin is widely considered to be the most difficult of all instruments to play, and developing real skill takes years of dedicated study. However, the lifelong benefits of studying an instrument have been well documented, making the journey well worth it.

Petia’s dedication to the art of classical violin, and her mastery of teaching the instrument to others helps each of her students in their own journey to violin proficiency. You will not find a more focused, supportive, and insightful instructor for your student. Read more about Petia’s teaching philosophy.

Petia accepts students as young as 6 years old. Students are expected to practice for several hours each week, attend weekly lessons, and be available for twice-yearly recitals and occasional master classes.

Petia did not simply teach me to play the violin; she opened my eyes to a world where music became an international language, where repetitive practices evolved into something amazing, and taught me to truly love and appreciate music.

Instruments

Each student is expected to have his or her own violin, whether rented or owned. Renting a violin is easy through several local companies, including Triangle Strings, and is highly recommended for smaller instrument sizes or beginning students.
